Jane E. Prokopchak,
Dear Members,
Let
me introduce myself, my name is Jane Prokopchak from
Butler Lodge #170. I have been affiliated with Elkdom
since 1973 (as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary)and
became an Elk when Ladies were permitted to join. I have gone through the chairs and am serving
my Lodge as Exalted Ruler for the fourth time. I have served on different
committees through the years, for both my Lodge and the West District of
Pennsylvania. I was asked to serve as the State Americanism Chairperson this Spring. I felt honored to have been asked to fill this
position, but little did I know what big shoes I have to fill. Ruth Owens has
done an exceptional job and I am sure we appreciated what she's done for this
committee and for Elkdom. She is willing to continue
to help when needed. Thanks, Ruth, and remember our good wishes are with you.
We
must have a fundraiser to support this committee, thus we will do as Ruth did
this past Spring. We will have a half and half drawing
at next year's Spring Convention, half of the money will go towards the
Americanism Committee (for essay winners to be invited to attend Spring
Convention) and the other half to be
split three equal amounts to three lucky drawing winners.
I
am happy to report that Steve Teague is Vice-chairman and will help you (and
me) whenever needed. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me or
Steve and we will work together to help as best we can.
I
have included the theme and rules for this year's essay contest and also the
names of the members who are serving on this committee. Please do your best to
get this information out to all your chairpersons in your district.
(Chairpersons, make copies and pass out at your district meetings to Lodge chairperson.)
Thank
you all for your help and looking forward to hearing and meeting you at the
Fall Convention at our Americanism Committee meeting.
Fraternally,
Jane
E. Prokopchak
