Did you know that "$20.00 for 5 years
equals 100%"
For our
20
FOR 5 = 100
THIS IS HOW OUR LEGACY TRUST WORKS
---
--- AND WHY IT IS SO VITAL TO THE
ELKS, AND TO ALL PENNSYLVANIANS!
Just
what could
The
answer is easy because it's a human equation, and the children mentioned are
our Pennsylvania Elks Home Service clients, while the "20" is $20.00,
the size of the annual individual donation that will insure the future of our
unique program. The "for 5" is for the five years it takes to
complete the $100.00 Pledge --- or you can simply send the $100.00 --- or more,
if it is no burden on your finances. And the "100" stands for 100%.
That's
one of the best things about the "20 for 5" Program; EVERY PENNY --- that's
100% of your donation, is deposited in the Pennsylvania Elks Legacy Trust Fund,
where every one of your hard-earned dollars, again that's 100%, will still be
working to help one of your neighbors long after the donor is gone!
As
an Elk, you simply can't leave any better legacy than THAT --- every dollar you
gave continuing to earn money FOREVER!
The
"20 for 5" donation program is an integral part of the Legacy Trust
Fund, and the Legacy Trust Fund is vital to the continued operation of the
Pennsylvania Elks Home Service Nurse Program by creating a permanent source of
operating capital. And all it requires is your $20.00 donation each year for a
period of five years to make it work.
As
we mentioned, the Pennsylvania Elks Legacy Trust Fund plan has one thing that
few charitable contributions can boast of: an ironclad GUARANTEE that EVERY
cent you donate is going to keep working for us, with the entire amount
becoming a permanent part of the principal. As such this money -- that's YOUR
generous donation -- will continue to work year after year after year to bring
in ever-increasing dividends,
Here's
how this simple system works: Every bit of that donation you make to the
Pennsylvania Elks Legacy Trust Fund is placed in a skillfully administered
investment portfolio, and this gives your donation dollars the power, in
concert with others, to earn the maximum return. BUT, only the dividends this
fund earns are removed and placed into the Home Service Nurses Program, never
one cent of the principal. Right now the interest earnings are close to $35,000
annually!
Thus,
it is this infusion of money that will eventually allow dedicated Elk members
like YOU to see the day when much, maybe even all of the money needed for the
program, will come without additional per capita donation requests. And in a
society where we have a dwindling number of new members in just about all
organizations, this becomes even more important.
So,
instead of us asking your for a prohibitive sum like $100.00, we now offer you
the option of sending a $20.00 donation each year for a five year period ---
and when it's completed we'll send you a nice lapel pin, and a certificate that
shows that you are a proud contributor in this Pennsylvania Elks vital
"plan for the future."
There
is no merchandise to purchase --- no merchandise to return --- no reminders to
mail your donation --- AND, you and your Lodge will BOTH get credit for every
penny of the money you donate to the Pennsylvania Elks Legacy Trust Fund.
An
individual Elk, or a PER Association, or a Ladies Auxiliary ... any group at
all, can now make their donation as a MEMORIAL to someone, or to remember
deceased members or in HONOR of a person or an organization -- let your
imagination give you more ideas!
We've
even made the giving part as easy as we can: simply send in the information
requested at the bottom of the page, along with your donation, payable to the
Pennsylvania Elks Legacy Trust Fund, to "The Pennsylvania Elks State
Association", P.O. Box 1255, Somerset, PA 15501-1255.
Please
make sure your Lodge Number and Membership Number appear on the memo area of
the check. And when you complete the $100.00 Pledge you can wear your Legacy
Trust Fund pin proudly!
YOU
CAN PROVIDE A LASTING GIFT
OF HOPE AND INDEPENDE
TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES!
HERE'S HOW.....
DIRECT GIFTS
Cash
gifts are probably the simplest and most common method of supporting the Legacy
Trust Fund. These gifts may be given by individuals, Past Exalted Rulers
Associations, Past District Deputies Associations, Elks Auxiliaries, or any
other organization.
HONOR
OR MEMORIAL GIFTS
One
special way to honor a family member, a friend or an Elk, is to make a gift in
honor of him or her. Memorial gifts can be given as a lasting remembrance of
those loved ones no longer with us. A gift can be given in any amount, and
Certificates are available for this purpose.
GIFTS
OF PROPERTY OR STOCKS
Appreciated stocks is
an excellent way to support the Legacy Trust Fund. You can gain maximum tax
benefits, deduct full market value and also avoid Capital Gains tax.
Personal property or real estate are personal
possessions that can provide an increase to the Legacy Trust Fund.
Tax deductions vary on how the gift is made.
Legal advise may be required
on real estate property. An appraisal on personal property is required.
GIFTS
BY BEQUEST
Bequests, frequently referred
to as legacies, provide substantial estate tax benefits. This is an important
way to support the Legacy Trust Fund. The bequest in a will can be expressed in
terms of either a specific amount or a percentage of the residual. Bequests in
any amount are acceptable from any source.
One of the goals of the Legacy Trust Fund is to have every Pennsylvania Elk
include in his will a bequest to the Legacy Trust Fund as a beneficiary. It
should be remembered that this bequest costs the individual nothing and it
provides a continuous donation to the Home Service Program.
INSURA
Insurance
policies no longer needed can be transferred to the Legacy Trust Fund and named
as irrevocable owner or beneficiary. The cash surrender value provides an
immediate tax deduction.
