What is the Legacy Trust Fund?
The Pennsylvania Elks Legacy Trust Fund
was established to support the Home Service Program. All funds collected stay in Pennsylvania to
aid Pennsylvanians with developmental conditions. Only the interest from our principal
investment is used to support the Home Service Program and the principal stays
in the investment account.
A gift or bequest can be considered a
perpetual gift, which is an annual gift that goes on giving forever.

One special way to honor a family member, a friend or
an Elk is to make a gift in honor of him or her. Memorial gifts can be given to
remember those loved one no longer with us. A gift can be given in any amount.
Certifications are available to be presented to a family member. Use the form

GIFTS OF PROPERTY OR STOCKS
Appreciated stocks are an excellent way to support the
Legacy Trust Fund. You can gain maximum value and also
avoid Capital Gains Tax.
Tax deductions vary according to how the gift is made.
Legal advice may be required regarding donation of
real estate property. An appraisal of personal property is required.
GIFTS BY BEQUEST
Bequests frequently referred to as legacies, provide
substantial Estate Tax benefits. This is an important way to support the Legacy
Trust Fund. The bequest in a will can be expressed in terms of either a
specific amount or a percentage of the residual. Bequests in any amount are
acceptable from any source.
One of the goals of the Legacy Trust Fund is to have
every Pennsylvania Elk include in his will, a bequest to the Legacy Trust Fund
as a beneficiary. It should be remembered that this bequest costs the
individual nothing and it provides a continuous donation to the Home Service
Program.
INSURANCE
Insurance policies that are no longer needed can be
transferred to the Legacy Trust Fund to be named as irrevocable owner or
beneficiary. The case surrender value provides an
immediate tax deduction.
Ask the Lodge Legacy Trust Chairman for information
about any of these programs.
